Jesse

Jesse Figueroa boasts a wealth of experience in coaching water polo and soccer at various levels including youth, high school, and Division I college. He has gained recognition as an expert in goalie development and defensive strategies in both sports. His passion for coaching extends to basic skill development for novice players. Jesse served as a member of the Men's Water Polo coaching staff at the University of California, Berkeley from 1979 to 1992, during which the program clinched six NCAA Division I Water Polo Championships. He played a crucial role in establishing the Women's Water Polo Program at the same university. Many of his former players, including Sean Nolan, who currently serves as the ODP Goalie Director for USA Water Polo, have gone on to excel in water polo at the highest levels. Additionally, numerous coaches in the Tri-Valley area leading successful programs were once players on teams he coached. Currently, Jesse is coaching water polo at Foothill High School in Pleasanton and Tri-Valley Triton Aquatics.

Jesse's soccer experience is equally impressive. As a goalie, he played soccer at City College of San Francisco and UC Berkeley, winning two state championships with the former team. He also worked as an assistant coach for both Men's and Women's Soccer Teams at Berkeley where he specialized in goalie coaching and defense. Several successful coaches, such as Leslie Gallimore at the University of Washington and Mary Harvey, a world-class goalie for the first Women's World Cup soccer team, received their foundational training under his tutelage.

Jesse is originally from San Francisco and retired after a 30-year career in Intercollegiate Athletics at UC Berkeley. He currently resides in Richmond, California, with his spouse.
